LAST CAMP OF HI JOLLY
Quartzsite, Arizona
DENIX

An Army experiment to use camels in the deserts of the
southwestern United States brought Hadji Ali (Hi Jolly) from
Syria to Arizona as a camel driver. The camels did not tolerate
the country and the experiment failed, but Hi Jolly remained to
serve as a faithful Army scout. He died at Quartzsite, December
16, 1902.
