SPLENDID'S
Jean Genet's crime thriller is set on the seventh floor of
Splendid's, a luxury Parisian hotel, where a gang of
kidnappers, their hostage and a conniving cop are all
under seige.
As the radio crackles with news of their fate, machine
guns blaze and the tuxedoed fugitives circle each other
in a fatal game of shifting alliances and secret desires.
Cops yearn to be criminals, heroes crave cowardice,
kidnappers become their own hostages.
Translation May-Brit Akerholt and Jim Sharman, design
by Michael Wilkinson and lighting by Rory Dempster
with Ralph Cotterill, Teo Gebert, Jacek Koman,
Joel McIlroy, Colin Moody, Daniel Rigney, Leigh Russell
and David Wenham.
