The Western Reserve was an area in
what is now Northeast Ohio claimed
by the state of Connecticut. Although
not recognized by the Federal govern-
ment or the Northwest Territory,
grants of land were made in this area
by Connecticut prior to 1800 when the
area became Trumbull County of the
Northwest Territory and Connecticut
surrendered claim.
