The Koyemci Gods of Zuni are the holy clowns of the cult of Katchina gods. They are called Mudheads because of their masks daubed with pinkish-brown mud. They are shown performing in the plaza at Zuni Pueblo, 40 miles south of Gallup, N.M., during an Indian religious ceremonial. Corn Mountain in background. |
