THE EILLEY ORRUM GIFT SHOP
Virginia City, Nevada
The building known for many years as the
Magnolia Saloon was built in 1876. The
building was bought in 1900 by the J. M.
Davis family, and was operated as a sta-
tionery and book store.
The telephone exchange was installed in
this building in 1902, and still has the
original "drop-leaf" switchboard, which
was operated for many years by a blind
woman named Suzie Davis.
The shop now carries a fine selection of
Antiques, Jewelry, Glass and China.
The shop was named in honor of Eilley
Orrum, "Queen of the Comstock."
