KENAI, Alaska was established in 1791 by Rus-
sian fur traders. In 1846 the first mission was
built with hand-hewn logs by a Russian monk.
The oil lands of Kenai and Cook Inlet are fast
becoming Alaska's major industry in dollar
values. Alaska's first commercial oil refinery is
in operation here.
