Golden Gate Park Portals of the Past, San Francisco San Francisco, CA A view of a small classical style pavilion with columns on the shore of a pond in Golden Gate Park. A swan swims in the pond. Golden Gate Park, Stanyan St. between Fulton St. and Lincoln Way extends to the ocean, and contains 1,013 acres. The park was created in the 1870's by John McLaren. The Portals of the Past are a memento of the great fire of 1906; these portals were practically all that remained standing of one of Nob Hill's magnificent mansions. |
