BURNSIDE BRIDGE Antietam Battlefield Sharpsburg, Maryland This bridge named for Gen. Burnside whose Corps made repeated attempts with greatly superior num- bers to force the bridge, but was driven back at the Battle of Antietam or Sharpsburg in 1862.
