The southernmost point of the State, Where the Potomac river (right) empties into Chesapeake Bay, was the site of a prison for Confederates captured during the Civil War. Earthen works of the fort remain, and a Confederate cemetery is nearby. Now a state park with 3 miles of sandy beach on bay and river, it is a fine spot for camping, fishing and crabbing. |
