BERKELEY PLANTATION, Located on Route 5 between Rich-
mond and Williamsburg. The most historic in America.
Settled in 1619. The first Thanksgiving was celebrated here
a year before Plymouth. Present mansion built in 1726.
Ancestral home of the Harrisons including two United
States Presidents and a signer of the Declaration of Inde-
pendence. McClellan's headquarters in 1862. "Taps" was
composed here by General Butterfield. Beautifully restored
and furnished with rare period pieces.
