This view from the foot of Luna Falls
gives a good idea of the chaotic masses
of rock that are the debris of the preci-
pice after it has been undermined by
the erosive power of the water. Be-
hind Luna Falls is situated the celebrated
Cave of the Winds. This vacant recess,
100 feet high and 60 feet in depth, is
reached by means of a perpendicular
winding stairway from Goat Island. The
cave derives its name from the con-
stant pressure of the atmosphere,
caused by reflex of the falling water,
which resembles a storm of great vio-
lence.
