The Parthenon, at Athens, was built on the Acropolis, 438 B. C., and dedicated to the goddess Athena. She was the wisest and most beautiful of Grecian deities, and the Parthenon was her temple, It was built at the instance of Pericles, king of Athens. The Parthenon at Nashville, in Centennial Park, is the result of years of research and study on the part of architects, artists and archaeologists. It is the only exact reproduction in the world of the Parthenon at Athens. In the basement is housed the famous Cowan Collection of Art. a cross-section of the best in American Art.
