The Governor's Reception Room is used by
the Governor for entertaining distinguished
guests. The color schemes for its furnishings
and decorations were worked out by the archi.
tect of the building and is one of the most
harmoniously furnished rooms in any public
place. The rug is 22x48 feet and weighs 1,350
pounds. The lace curtains are hand made,
requiring the entire time of one woman for six
months to make one pair. The draperies
around the windows are inlaid with pure
gold and trimmed with pure gold lace, braid,
and fringe. The tapestry is an exquisite
specimen of embossed silk embroidery. The
chandeliers are made of Utah gold and silver
trimmed with cut glass. The mural paintings
are by Louis Schettle, a noted American artist.
The total cost of the furnishings of this room
was $65,000.
