When this Hotel was first started in ... a pair of
antlers were placed over its entrance. From this cir-
cumstance
derived the name which has lasted
through the years during several rebuildings. The pres-
ent hotel is one of the largest and finest in the west,
occupying a large park, and strikingly situated at the
west end of Pikes Peak Avenue with Pikes Peak tow-
ering directly behind and over it.
