The first church on this site, designed and
built in 1842 by the famous Dominican Priest
and Architect, Rev. Charles Samuel Mazzuchelli,
but destroyed by fire in 1856. Present edifice
also designed by Father Mazzuchelli. Opened
for Public Devotion, Dec. 8th, 1863.
