A gift to the Government of the United
States, pursuant to a Joint Resolution of the
Congress of July 18, 1939. The Home of
Franklin D. Roosevelt was designated as a
National Historic Site on Jan. 15th, 1944, with
the members of the Roosevelt Family retain-
ing life interests in the home and grounds
included in the gift.
After the death of the President, Mrs.
Eleanor Roosevelt and her children waived
their life interests in the estate.
