Additional Details:
WOODROW WILSON'S BIRTHPLACE, STAUNTON, VA. This house was built in 1846-47 and was the birthplace of Woodrow Wilson, President of the United States, 1913-1921. The lower room to the left in which Mr. Wilson first saw light, December 28, 1856, has been marked with a bronze tablet by the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mr. Wilson, the son of Rev. Joseph R. and Jessie (Woodrow) Wilson, the former an eminent Presbyterian clergyman, was the twenty-eighth President, the eighth Virginian to hold that honored office and the first Virginian and first Southerner elected President since the Civil War.
