The copper red glaze, sometimes known as 'Sang de-Boeuf, oxblood, or flambe' red, is obtained by removing the oxygen, (known as reduction), in a wood or gas fired kiln, causing the metallic copper to become suspended in the glaze. The color frequently shows pleasant variations due to the downward movement of the copper particles and impurities which are separated out in the firing. We also fire porcelain in white, gun metal black, celedon, and turquoise. |
