Georgia's Merci Boxcar, Train de la Reconnaissance

After World War II, France sent a series of 49 boxcars to the United States to thank the American people for their help. The boxcar given to Georgia has a permanent home at the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History in Kennesaw, Georgia. These cars were used to carry troops in both World Wars. The flags of the United States, France, and the 40 & 8 veterans society are displayed above. |
