This Old pine eighty year old tree grows out of a solid granite boulder and every year thousands of tourists view and wonder at this unique sight. The sign on the fence reads: "The original line of the Union Pacific Railroad passed this point and pioneers say that the surveyors were ordered to slightly deflect the route to avoid destruction of this "freak'. It is said that early day firemen of passing trains, recalling the trees necessity for moisture, drenched the tree daily with a bucket of water."
