MOUNTAIN SCENERY
The path uphill, around the pine,-
One common thought, 'tis yours and mine;
Much could be said about this place,
This blessing to the human race.
It stands in majesty alone,
And better even than a throne,-
The carpenter built it for two,
And backward glanced, with pride to view.
"Tis rough, from mountain lumber made,
Beneath the forest's cooling shade,-
Concealed with brush, before and 'hind,
Long may it stand and serve mankind.
