Erected by authority of the Act of Congress, June 25, 1910 in commemoration of the patriotism displayed and the suffering endured by Washington, his officers and men during the winter of 1777-78. Inscriptions: ""To the officers and private soldiers of the Continental Army, Dec, 19, 1777, June 19, 1778.
