admitted to statehood on December 11, 1816.
The prize-winning design, adopted as the offi-
cial Sesquicentennial emblem, combines the out-
line of the "Hoosier State", the first state
capitol at Corydon, the torch and stars from
the Indiana flag and the dates, 1816-1966.
