One of the pretty bends on the road to the
summit of Lookout Mountain.
Lookout Mountain is one of the mountains
of the earth that does not "obstruct a
view." It affords a most impressive spec-
tacle, famous for its scenery and history. Point
Park is at the tip of its crest. Confederate bat-
teries of the Civil War, tablets of information
regarding the engagements are among the in-
teresting sights. War relics, beautiful mountain
homes, hotels and drives are all interesting.
Lookout Mountain expands into a great
plateau of farming lands as it extends south-
ward for more than 86 miles.
At its top
magnificent scenes of the valleys, the river
and Chattanooga can be seen. It overlooks
five States--Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama,
North and South Carolina—and some have
declared that they can observe points in
Kentucky and West Virginia.
It is a 15-minute drive by auto from Chatta-
nooga over a concrete highway to Point Park
on the summit of Lookout Mountain.
