Lookout Mountain is perhaps the mountain
of greatest interest in America. It is one of
the detached spurs of the Cumberland Range.
The Tennessee River winds around it, its
highest point is 2,250 feet above sea level.
Lookout Mountain is 86 miles long and from
one-quarter to ten miles wide. The north end
is at Chattanooga and the south end at Gods-
den, Ala. It runs into three States—Tennessee
on the north, and Georgia and Alabama on the
south.
It is a 15-minute drive by auto from Chatta-
nooga over a concrete highway to Point Park
on the summit of Lookout Mountain.
