here that he wrote his journal, a history of
Southold Town which was published in 1856.
Now home of Oysterpond's Historical Society,
founded in 1945 as a Memorial to veterans
of World War II. Building on the right is the
former one room Schoolhouse of N. Y. Dis-
trict #1.
