Additional Details:
Hopkinton, Mass., incorporated 1715. It was here that the famous John Eliot, apostle to the Indians, founded one of his bands of "Praying Indians." Here was the home of Agnes Surriage and Sir Charles Henry Frankland, so well known in New England romance; and here in 1820 the first use of the wooden peg for boots and shoes revolutionized the shoe business in America.
