BETSY WILLIAMS COTTAGE. The old red schoolhouse,
now known as the Betsy Williams Cottage, and one hundred
and one acres of land were devised to the city of Providence
by the will of Betsy Williams, who died in 1871. The cottage
was built in 1773 by Nathaniel Williams for his son James,
the father of Betsy.
