Hermit Trail, the new way to the heart of the Canyon, is about nine miles west of El Tovar. It is a trail of easy grades and long zig zags, and four feet wide. Diverging from it on the plateau is the old Tonto Trail, connecting with bright Angel, Grand View and other Canyon trails to the river.
