Cast by the Dutch firm of Petit & Fritsen, Ltd., cf
Aarle Rixtel, Holland, the bells of the Simon
Goodman Memorial Carillon were heard daily
by visitors to the Brussels World Fair.
Housed in a 60-foot tower which stands in the
center of Wilmington College Campus, the bells
of the Simon Goodman Memorial Carillon have a
total weight of 6,500 pounds. The largest bell of
the carillon weighs 1,100 pounds, the smallest 20
pounds.
A private, liberal arts, co-educational institution
of 700 students, Wilmington College was founded
in 1870 by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).
