Fayette County Court House
Additional Details:
Washington Court House was founded on 150 acres of land donated by Col. Benjamin Temple in 1811. Col. Temple requested the town be named after his commanding officer, General George Washington. The "C.H." or Court House was derived from the Virginia custom of naming a county seat town. Fayette County was named after the Marquis de la Fayette, another of temple's war-time commanders. |
