Rocky Hill, Conn., located on West Street, West Street exits from Interstate 91, and Conn, Rt. 9, 10 mins. From Hartford. Established and maintained by the Conn. Park and Forest Commission the site shown is the first to be covered, 1968, with a temporary building to preserve the prints from the weather. A larger tract covered in 1966 with heating coils, and vinyl sheeting is in the background. Workmen removing the prints found several or more layers each with prints in them, one above the other. These fossil tracks were made over 180 million years ago by Triassic period dinosaurs. |
