OSTRICH FARM. The Hot Springs Ostrich Farm is a
point of interest to thousands of visitors. It is at the end of
the Whittington Avenue Car line, where a large number of
ostriches are exhibited for a small fee. They are of all sizes,
from incubator "babies" to full-grown birds, the latter being
valued at $250.00 to $500.00. They are plucked every nine
months. They lay from 15 to 20 eggs a season; the eggs
take from 42 to 44 days to hatch, weigh from 3 to 5 lbs.
each, and are worth $ 10.00 a piece. The average life of an
astrich is 70 years, although some live to be 120 or 140 years old.
