The Thermalito Diversion Dam, a 133 foot high concrete structure, is located just a half mile from downtown Oroville, supplies the Forebay and Afterbay through the concrete lined canal leading away from it. The water is directed to the Forebay by way of the power canal and from there passes through the Thermalito Powerhouse before flowing into the Afterbay. The canal is 142 feet wide at the top, 48 feet wide at the bottom, and is 10,000 feet in length. this picture was taken in the fall of 1967. |
