Overlooking the Union Station from a com-
manding site on Memorial Hill stands Kansas
City's war memorial built by popular sub-
scription at a cost of approximately two and
one-half million dollars. The corner stone was
laid in 1921 in the presence of General
Pershing and the military leaders of the
various Allied nations. In 1926 the completed
structure was dedicated by President Coolidge.
It was designed by Harold Van Buren
Magonigle.
