BIGHORN LAKE
Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area
The 71 mile long lake extends from Fort Smith, Montana
southward to the vicinity of Lovell, Wyoming. Most of its
length is confined between the walls of Bighorn Canyon.
In 1968 the Recreation area was dedicated.
This is the ancestral home of the Crow Tribe of Indians. By
agreement with the Tribe certain lands within their Reservation
are included in the Recreation Area. The recreation resources
on these lands will be developed by the National Park Service.
