The National Hotel, Washington , D. C., is one of the old land marks along historic Pennsylvania Ave., and although it was built in 1827 it is modern in equipment and appointment. It has housed many of the greatest men who have contributed to the history of America. President Lincoln was feted here; Gen. Andrew Jackson, Gen. Wm. Henry Harrison, Jas. K. Polk, Daniel Webster, John Quincy Adams, chief Justice Taney and many later-day Senators and Representatives have made it their home. Here also Henry Clay lived and died. It is within five minutes walk of the U. S. Capitol. |
