The leading institution of its kind in New England. The Wesson Maternity Hospital built and endowed by the late Daniel B. Wesson as a memorial to his wife, Cynthia Wesson, was opened in 1907 and has become one of the leading institutions of the kind in America and the best fitted one in New England. Its training School is attended by nurses form the large hospitals in other cities, the Massachusetts General in Boston sending the greater number, always keeping their quota of 16 field. to January 1, 1914, graduate nurses to the number of 265 have received diplomas, and 2689 babies have been born. An average of one-fifth of all the babies born in Springfield arrive here.
