LOUIS CATHEDRAL The present church, the oldest cathe- dral in the United States, was com- pleted in 1794, in honor of the Patron Saint of Bourbon, France. It witnessed the exchange of flags, December 1, 1803, when the flag of Spain was replaced by the tricolor of Na- poleon's France, which only twenty days later was succeeded by the 15 stars and stripes of the U.S.A.
