Constructed at a cost of $1,500,000 at the
edge of the city of San Antonio, this dam
is across a dry channel, which drains the
rainfall from a wide area of hilly country,
and the only outlet of which is the San
Antonio river, over which there are forty
bridges within the city limits. This dam is
for flood prevention, but has been made
one of the most attractive drives in the
city, with clever lighting effects.
