Grant Caribou (Rangifer arcticus granti) This caribou, found on the Alaska Peninsula, is a race of the Barren Ground species that inhabit the treeless tundra of the Arctic regions. Caribou are unique among the deer in that both sexes have antlers. These animals are an important source of subsistence to the people of the far north, both in food and clothing.
