The American Museum of natural History New York, U. S. A. Mountain Goat (Oreamnos americanus) and Sawyer Glacier, Alaska. These shaggy-haired white animals are found form Alaska to Idaho and Montana. In contrast to their coat, the dagger-like horns, lips, and hoofs are black. They frequent rocky cliffs and mountain tops, for mountain goats climb easily where few other animals can follow. Eagles sometimes snatch a kid, and bears or wolves may attack these mountaineers when they come down. Hall of North American Mammals.
