MOUNTAIN GOAT (Oreamnos americanus)
and SAWYER GLACIER, ALASKA
These shaggy-haired white animals are found from Alaska
to Idaho and Montana. In contrast to their coat, the
dagger-like horns, lips, and hoofs are black. They frequent
rocky cliffs and mountain tops, for mountain goats Climb
easily where few other animals can follow. Eagles some-
times snatch a kid, and bears or wolves may attack these
mountaineers when they come down.
