Situated on the Atlantic Ocean Eighteen miles east of Jacksonville, the gateway of Florida on State Road 78. It has a year round climate on 70 degrees. A fine fishing pier extends out on the ocean a rendezvous for the angler. Safety for the bather is assured by a Red Cross Life Saving Corp of about 60 or more men; this being the first Red Cross Station organized in the United States. Motor Races are regular events on these hard packed sand beaches having a length of approximately forty miles. Its Hotels shops, picture shows and other amusements and its concrete promenade, gaily lighted, serve week-end crowds of over a hundred thousand. Beautiful settings of sub-tropical palms and sand dunes are in evidence among the beautiful homes belonging to commuters and local residents which line the beaches and vicinity.
