Native Huts Of Alaska
Additional Details:
The native huts of the snowy regions of Alaska seem to offer little or no shelter. Four poles driven into the ground and fastened together form the framework, which is generally divided into two stories, the lower part serving as a barn and pantry, while the upper part is used as a living room. When occupied, the walls and roof are formed by reindeer skins, and a rude ladder is used to ascend to this room, in which the inhabitants seem to enjoy every comfort possible in Alaskan snowfield. |
