The Spirit of Methodism is drawing hosts of people to the Eighth International Epworth League Convention which meets in Seattle July 7-12, 1909. Great state delegations are coming; "Enthroning Christ" is the motto; 50 renowned speakers; 500 voices and 50 instruments will render the oratorio "Elijah;" all in the great Armory. This year is epochal with the Twentieth Anniversary of the Epworth League and the Jason Lee diamond Jubilee of Missionary colonization of the Pacific West. The Spirit of Seattle works wonders. Seattle has more than a quarter of a million people. 250 churches, many parks and lakes, six transcontinental railways, great banks and commercial houses. this "Queen City of the pacified" is the gateway to Alaska and the Client, the seat of the State University, Puget Sound Navy yard and Fort Lawton. Seattle is crowned with beauty, power, fortune and opportunity for all. The Spirit of the Pacific has taken form in the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition on 250 acres of the campus of the State University, Seattle; opens June 1, closes October 16; cost $10,000,000 and is the world's most beautiful fair. it has a dozen mammoth Exhibit Palaces, many State and Foreign Buildings and the pay Streak. The U. S. Government has five great structures. The Cascade and Geysers form the center of this display of the beauty and marvels of the Pacific countries. The Methodist Headquarters and Exhibit are in the Agricultural Building, south balcony. Epworth League headquarters, 419 New York Block, J. W. Efaw, Chairman; Rev. J. M. Canse, Secretary.
