One of 405 center-entrance motor cars purchased
by the Boston Elevated Railway between 1917 and
1920, Seashore's No. 6270 was built by the Kuhlman
Car Company of Cleveland, Ohio in 1918 and was
last operated in 1952. These cars, which had a
seating capacity of 56 but could carry another 100
as standees, were notable for their ability to handle
large crowds on the subway and surface routes of
the Boston system. Three hundred, of which 6270
was one, were equipped for operation in two or
three car trains.
