Seashore's No. 5060 is one of 50 semi-convertibles
built by the J. G. Brill Company of Philadelphia,
Pa., for the Boston Elevated Railway in
initially was
1906, and
operated in the East Boston Tunnel.
Later transferred to surface routes, they were all
retired between 1922 and 1929. No. 5060 was con-
verted to a compressor car for the Boston Elevated's
maintenance department in 1928 and was acquired
in 1954 by the Seashore museum, where its recon-
version to a passenger car is in progress.
