K5015 BINGHAM COPPER MINE,
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH
is situated in the Oquirrh Mountains some
30 miles southwest of the city. The mine is
an open cut operation and extensive excava
tion over a period of 80 years has produced
a huge bowl with terraced sides reaching
1,800 feet to the mountains above. Bingham
mine is reputed to provide 30% of the nation's
copper as well as appreciable quantities of
lead, silver and gold.
