U. S. Soldiers Home. The National Home for veterans of the regular Army is situated on the outskirts of Washington. It is surrounded by some of the most beautiful and well kept grounds in the United States. It was founded through the active work of Gen. Winfield Scott. Each month every soldier in the regular Army has 12? cents deducted from his pay which goes towards the maintenance of the home where any disabled soldier or any soldier who has served for 20 years in the regular army has a right to live.
