Rear view of Campus, Williston Seminary. Williston Seminary, a preparatory school for boys, who founded by Samuel Williston. The corner stone of the first building was laid on June 17th, 1841, and in December of the same year the school was opened for pupils. The main buildings are located upon the campus, and are South, Middle and North halls and the Gymuasium. The founder of the school was the son of the first pastor of the First Church, who settled here in 1789. In 1835 Mr. Williston began the manufacture of machine made buttons and was the first to introduce the industry into this country. He became very wealthy and his benefactious during his lifetime amounted to $1,000,000. By his will the institution secured a manilicent endowment.
